Commission an original portrait of one person, created by hand using oil paint on canvas. A photograph provides the starting point for a painting that can emphasize a familiar expression, a distinctive gesture, or a setting with personal meaning.
Choose how the person is portrayed
A head-and-shoulders composition gives the face the strongest emphasis. A half-length or full-length arrangement can include hands, clothing, and surroundings that help explain the subject. Tell us which elements should lead the portrait.
Prepare your portrait request
- A main photograph with a clear view of the face and expression.
- Additional references for clothing, hands, or details not visible in the main image.
- Your preferred crop, pose, and background.
- Glasses, jewelry, or personal objects that should remain.
- Preferred dimensions, intended wall, and any occasion or deadline.
Clothing and background changes can be discussed before painting. Substantial changes to a pose or the amount of the figure shown may require additional references and a different composition.
